Vitamin D supplements 'no cure-all'

The "glimmering" hope that vitamin D supplements could help treat diabetes, cardiovascular disease and even cancers has been dealt a critical blow by a large review showing no causal link between low vitamin D and non-bone disorders.

The supplements likely have little benefit to non-skeletal disease, and high doses may even be harmful to some patients, the Lancet-published systematic review suggests.
