VTE guidelines ignored

Australian patients in hospital with venous thromboembolism (VTE) or at risk of it have about the same chance of getting guideline-compliant treatment as they would by tossing a coin.

VTE prevention and management was appropriately provided in only 51% of interactions involving 481 at-risk patients admitted to hospital, a detailed analysis of the CareTrack Australia study data shows.
