Waxing a risk factor for minor STIs – that’s the hairy truth

French researchers examined 30 cases of sexually transmitted molluscum contagiosum (STMC), the incidence of which has increased in the last decade.

Lesions were found on the pubis in all cases but extended to the abdomen in four cases and the leg in another. Most of the patients (93%) used some form of genital hair removal. Of those, 70% shaved, 13% clipped and 10% waxed.
