Weight gain slowing down, waists growing

The data, from the Australian Diabetes, Obesity and Lifestyle study (AusDiab) included 3351 adults aged 25 years and over.

It analysed changes in weight and waist circumference (WC) between 1999/2000 and 2004/2005, and 2004/2005 and 2011/2012.

The findings showed that, while there was an overall increase in mean weight and WC, the proportion of the study group that gained weight in the later period was smaller, and the amount of annual weight gain was less.
