Whooping cough claims another infant
ANOTHER baby has died from whooping cough as the epidemic continues, leading to renewed calls for parents and carers to be vaccinated.
A spokesperson for the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne said a newborn had been transferred to the hospital on Monday and was later diagnosed with whooping cough.
"The baby was provided appropriate care but sadly died later that day," the spokesperson said.
The hospital said appropriate follow-up and infection control measures had been taken as a result of the case.
