TWO influenza vaccinations a year might be needed for optimum protection due to changes in circulation patterns of the virus, experts say.

Flu specialists warn it’s already advisable for Australians who have had a seasonal flu vaccination to have a second dose if travelling into a northern hemisphere winter.
