Women with diabetes face higher heart risk than men

Women with diabetes are over 40 percent more likely to develop heart disease compared to men, a large meta-analysis finds, and the disparity is not entirely explained by undertreatment.

The meta-analysis of 64 cohorts and 858,507 individuals found women with diabetes were almost three times more likely to have coronary heart disease (CHD) compared to women without diabetes.
