Women with PTSD at higher risk of developing obesity

Investigators evaluated data on 54,000 participants from the US Nurses’ Health Study II, finding those with at least four PTSD symptoms at baseline had a swifter rise in BMI during follow-up compared to those without symptoms.

And the women with PTSD symptom onset during the study also had a higher likelihood of developing overweight and obesity.

Most previous studies on PTSD and weight have looked only at combat veterans rather than civilians.
