Wrong MMR vax given to some babies

In July 2013 the quadrivalent MMRV vaccine was introduced to the National Immunisation Program to replace the separate measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine given to four-year-olds and the varicella vaccine for 18-month-olds.

However, MMRV is associated with an increased risk of fever and febrile convulsions when given as a first dose in children 12 months and younger so it is recommended as the second dose of measles-containing vaccine to be given at 18 months after a first dose of MMR at 12 months.

In the 12 months to 1 May 2014, the TGA received seven
