Zinc slashes cold duration

Researchers found that the duration of nasal discharge was shortened by 34%, cough by 46% and muscle ache by 54% when patients took 80—92mg/day of zinc acetate in lozenge form. 

The lozenges were also associated with a reduction in the duration of nasal congestion (37%), scratchy throat (33%) and hoarseness (43%) but there was no effect on headache and fever and reduced sneezing and sore throat duration was not statistically significant.
