There is no need to worry about offending patients with obesity by bringing up their weight problem, according to the lead author of a large international study.

Professor Ian Caterson of Sydney University’s Charles Perkins Centre says the evidence shows that most people with obesity want their doctor to broach the subject and that, contrary to popular medical opinion, most of these patients are motivated to lose
