5 diet tips for managing blood glucose

Whether your patients have impaired glucose tolerance, insulin resistance or diabetes (T1, T2, GDM), monitoring and regulating blood glucose is key too to managing these conditions.

Here are  five diet tips to help your patients regulate their blood glucose levels (BGLs) with food.

1 – Low Glycemic Index (GI) carbohydrates

GI is a ranking (0-100) of carbohydrate foods and their effect on blood glucose after consumption. GI describes the quality of the carbohydrate but the quantity still needs to be considered. Low GI foods (0-55) are digested more slowly and cause a slow rise and fall in blood glucose
