Being there long-term for our patients

General practice is not about 15-minute consultations; it’s about continuous, life-long care. It is a journey we travel together with our patients

Case 1

Bella stared at the floor, clearly not happy to be in the room with her parents. Heavily made-up and wearing a short skirt, the 14-year-old could have easily passed for 18.

Her parents were genuinely caring. “She’s angry all the time,” her mum said, quickly followed by her dad, “She never sings anymore”.

“We think she might be depressed …” they chimed in unison.

Case 2

Darius was a portly professional who had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes the year before.
