1. When to introduce solids
The WHO and Australia’s NHMRC recommend exclusive breastfeeding for infants until six months of age. From this age, introducing solids can commence while breastfeeding continues.1 Before four months, infants may not be ready and still tongue thrust, which parents may interpret as food dislike. Delaying until after six months may place the infant at risk of iron deficiency anaemia.
