BEACH heads in new reporting direction
AUSTRALIA’S largest annual general practice study is set for a minor shake-up next month with the news BEACH is to part ways with long-term collaborator the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW).
The Bettering the Evaluation and Care of Health (BEACH) study has been carried out by researchers at the University of Sydney’s Family Medicine Research Centre in collaboration with the AIHW since 1998.
However, from this year its program will instead continue only with the support of its other participating organisations, including the Department of Health and Ageing.
BEACH director Associate Professor Helena Britt said neither the annual study nor the collection of its data would be altered by the change.
However, she said in light of the parting of ways with the AIHW, she may use the period of change to explore opportunities to expand the research reporting.
