‘Biggest losers’ are worse off in the long run

Drastic weight loss as seen in Biggest Loser-style TV shows is almost completely regained because metabolic rate is permanently reset to a much slower level, obesity experts warn.

In a long-term follow-up of 14 former Biggest Loser contestants in the US, researchers found that 70% of the average 58kg weight lost during the series was regained over the following six years.
