Under a new Medical Board of Australia requirement, practitioners must request that any unsolicited online review of their clinical services — positive or negative — is taken down.
The guideline, set to come into effect from 17 March, has been criticised for placing a burden on GPs in a situation where they have little control.
The guidelines were unveiled last month following a public consultation process and fall under the board’s advertising and social media rules.
