GP patient numbers attending ER depts overstated: ACEM

In a statement, the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) said the AIHW’s recently released report, Australian Hospital Statistics 2011–12: Emergency Department Care, relied on inaccurate performance indicators, after the report stated that “selected potentially avoidable GP-type presentations to emergency departments” made up 38% of cases.

ACEM has claimed the AIHW were aware of flaws in their methodology two years ago and had promised to review it.
