GP reprimanded after death of detox patient

Dr Jassim Daood was found guilty of unsatisfactory conduct over his handling of the case at the Psych N Soul clinic in central Sydney’s Ultimo, which offered a Rapid Opiate Detoxification (ROD) treatment as a day procedure.

A NSW Medical Professional Standards Committee found he failed to conduct an adequate assessment of the ex-journalist, Patient A, before and during treatment, and failed to minimise risks and complications.

A Canberra-area resident born in 1960, Patient A had a history of drug and alcohol abuse and mental illness, including bipolar disorder and depression.
