Instead of blaming gaming, use it as a tool to promote good health
In a commentary in Childhood Obesity, US paediatricians noted that most children, whatever their socioeconomic status, played video games, used computers and had mobile phones. Electronic media had been shown to increase knowledge about diet and physical activity, but the challenge was to translate that into behaviour change.
The key was tailored solutions that kept kids entertained, they said, citing texting for weight management and storybooks on diet.
