Living with diabetes for 70 years
A Victorian woman who developed type 1 diabetes in 1944 has shown that it is possible to live a long and healthy life with the condition.
Geelong resident Edna Miller, 90, developed diabetes while serving in the Australian Army Medical Women’s Service in 1944. In the seventy years since then she has managed her condition with insulin and also lived a full and busy family life on a farm
In the early days she had to have frequent insulin injections with large glass insulin syringes that had to be sterilised
