Q&A with....Marie Bottolfsen, RN, BSc (hons)

Before getting into general practice nursing I used to… work in a wide range of different areas. After graduating in the UK as a nurse, I have worked in many units, mostly teaching hospitals in the UK, US and Australia. 

I’ve also worked in general medical clinics and research nursing, including gastroenterology, diabetes, vascular disease and cardiology.  

I also worked for five years in pharmaceuticals as a GP specialist and then as a hospital specialist  – gastroenterology, neurology, cardiology, women’s health, asthma and psychiatry. 

The patient that had the most profound effect on me was… a patient with diabetes who’d had a successful lap banding procedure carried out and no longer had diabetes.
