Scruffiness eroding doctors’ competent image

In an opinion published in the BMJ, British consultant microbiologist Dr Stephanie Dancer has argued that a 2007 edict by the UK’s health department stating that in the interest of hospital hygiene doctors should not wear ties has led to a breakdown in overall standards of dress and personal presentation.
