Strong case for FFR reimbursement: study

Cardiologists in NSW have called for fractional flow reserve to be MBS reimbursed as soon as possible after showing it saves money and improves clinical outcomes by allowing clinicians to defer PCI.

Despite costing $1200 per wire, the use of FFR saved at least that amount per patient in the public sector and saved $5000 per patient in the private sector, according to clinicians at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney.
