Doctor's Facebook post sparks $100k fundraising
AN Australian doctor’s distress at the image of a lifeless boy washed up on a Turkish beach has sparked a social media campaign raising more than $100,000 for Syrian refugees in just a few weeks.
Dr Kristy Fraser-Kirk was shocked into action by the news photograph of three-year-old Aylan Kurdi, who drowned along with his mother and siblings after their boat was swamped as they tried to reach Greece in early September.
“I saw that terrible photo of Aylan - he was about my son’s age, and it just struck a chord. I was really emotionally affected,” she
