Doctor suspended for kicking patient

A consultant psychiatrist who was convicted of assault for kicking a patient because she had kicked her first has been suspended for six months by a UK medical practitioners tribunal.

The tribunal heard that the patient, who had learning disabilities and who was “highly agitated”, told Dr Temitope Ademola that she would kick her.

The Aberdeen-based psychiatrist responded by saying, “I will kick you if you kick me”.

The tribunal also heard that Dr Ademola placed her hand over the female patient’s mouth, restricting her breathing.
