Beethoven and a bone disease

An unexpected comment on an ED discharge summary leads to a diagnosis of a 'classical' chronic bone condition

Arthur is a 72-year-old retired clerk and ex-serviceman who presents for clarification about details included in a recent ED discharge summary.

Arthur was taken to ED a week ago after he was a pedestrian knocked over by a motor vehicle travelling at slow speed in a car park.

Arthur lost consciousness for about 20 minutes but subsequently made a complete recovery in the ED.

He had no other injuries apart from some bruising and a few pieces of ‘lost bark’ from his legs.
