Excision of a rare mass leads to complications

Sophie is a 39-year-old who presents with a 12-month history of a lump just above the angle of her left jaw that has been slowly increasing in size.

She has associated mild discomfort over the left parotid lesion. There are no associated local features of infection or sore throat, fever or weight loss.

Sophie is a non-smoker and social drinker. She has a past history of Gilbert’s syndrome but is otherwise well.

She takes no regular medication and has no family history of note.
