Becky, a 47-year-old mother of two, has had complex Crohn’s disease for 10 years.

She has been treated with immunosuppressive therapy, but this was recently ceased after she developed a terminal ileal perforation and abscess.

During that episode, Becky was admitted to hospital, the abscess was drained under ultrasound guidance, and appropriate IV antibiotic therapy commenced.

She was also given an iron infusion and supplemental B12 to correct respective nutrient deficiencies.
