Hypertension is the hallmark of this easily missed diagnosis
Chen is a 46-year-old factory worker who presents with fatigue.
He denies any associated systemic symptoms or stress at home or work and has not made any changes to his diet, exercise or sleep habits.
He does not drink excess caffeine and has never smoked or consumed alcohol.
His past medical history is significant for longstanding hypertension, diagnosed 10 years ago and typically well controlled with nifedipine; obstructive sleep apnoea, managed with CPAP; and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, managed with omeprazole and Chinese antacids.
