Cheryl, a 28-year-old new patient to the practice, presents with a 24-hour history of painful red eyes bilaterally, associated with a sensation of ocular fullness.

She has had myopia since she was six and wears glasses, which are typically corrective.

There is no history of recent trauma and no associated diplopia, discharge, itchiness or photophobia. She does not wear contact lenses.

Cheryl has a past history of mild gastric reflux disease, which is managed by esomeprazole 20mg prn. She has no other significant medical or surgical history and is generally well.
