Because not every cough is COVID-19

In a world consumed with coronavirus, here is a breath of fresh (blood-tinged, sputum-flecked) air to remind you that not every cough is COVID-19.

A 56-year-old man presented to an ED in the US with a two-month history of fatigue, weight loss, night sweats and fever.

He also had a cough producing sputum with occasional haemoptysis. Originally from Haiti, the man had immigrated to the US 10 years earlier.

Although breathing comfortably, the patient appeared cachectic, and auscultation found the volume of airflow to be equal in both lungs with no crackles or wheeze.
