An incidental finding on X-ray made US doctors stand to attention recently when they discovered their patient’s penis was turning to bone.
The 63-year-old man went to an ED with knee pain after falling on a New York City footpath and, on physical examination, also complained of penile discomfort.
But a pelvic X-ray revealed a little more than expected, showing “extensive, plaque-like calcification along the expected distribution of the penis”, according to Urology Case Reports.
Yes, that’s right, the patient’s penis was literally turning to bone (insert plethora of painfully obvious puns here).
