Medical Must-See: A fingertip lesion that’s not bleeding obvious

A non-itchy, non-painful fingertip lesion has led a Moroccan doctor to a rare and “controversial” diagnosis of basosquamous carcinoma.
The 68-year-old patient, whose history included type 2 diabetes and dyslipidaemia, presented with an ulcerated skin lesion that had developed over two years.
While not itchy or painful, the 1cm lesion bled on contact, according Dr Madiha Eljazouly from the Cheikh Khalifa International University Hospital in Casablanca.
The lesion was surrounded by an inflammatory halo of translucent pearled vesicles, as well as a blackish pigmentation around the periphery.
