A rare hourglass-shaped abdominal aortic aneurysm was discovered just in time for this 68-year-old.

The patient presented to Sina Hospital’s ED in Iran with abdominal pain that had persisted for several days.

Her vital signs were stable, but she had multiple cardiovascular risk factors, including diabetes, hypertension, smoking and reduced ejection fraction of 40%. 

An abdominal doppler ultrasound revealed two adjacent abdominal aortic aneurysms forming an hourglass-shaped configuration.
