Medical Must-See: Coral reef cut haunts woman 20 years on
Brisbane doctors have connected a painless but “cosmetically bothersome” lesion on a woman’s leg to her tumble on a coral reef 20 years ago.
The patient was aged 32 when she presented with a chronic indolent lesion on her left knee, measuring 9cm x 5cm.
She said she had fallen and cut herself on a New Zealand coral reef at the age of 12 and that the lesion developed on the wound site about four weeks later.
She was otherwise healthy, with no other skin lesions or lymphadenopathy.
