Medical Must-See: Gigantic kidney stone breaks two world records
An enormous kidney stone removed from a retired Sri Lankan soldier has broken not one but two world records to become the largest ever recorded.
Surgeons at the Colombo Army Hospital in Colombo said the stone was so large that it dwarfed the 62-year-old patient’s actual kidney.
Weighing in at 801g and measuring 13.37cm by 10.55cm, it has entered the Guinness World Records for both the heaviest and largest kidney stone.
It beat out the previous record holders — a 13cm long kidney stone found in India in 2004, and the other weighing 620g in Pakistan in 2008.
