Medical Must-See: Patient withstands ‘glistening white’ foot tumour for three years
When an elderly man in India presented to hospital with a large ovoid swelling and numbness in his foot, his doctors did not expect to encounter an “extremely rare” benign nerve sheath tumour.
The patient, aged in his late 60s, said the swelling on the dorsolateral area of his right foot had gradually increased in size over three years and was associated with dull, aching pain.
He also reported numbness and swelling over his third and fourth toes and was able to walk with some limitations in the range of motion of the ankle and subtalar joint.
The case authors said he had no history of loss of appetite, weight loss, fever or malaise.
