Medical Must-See: Sunscreen, sweat and a rare corneal ulcer

The case suggests environmental exposure could be a risk factor for the condition, say doctors.

When a 58-year-old man in tropical Puerto Rico got sunscreen and sweat in his eye while working in his yard, he did not expect to become a case study for a “rare” ocular occurrence.

The patient was referred to an ophthalmology clinic with a two-month history of unresolved corneal ulcer and progressive discomfort in the oculus sinister (OS or left eye).
