Doctors have reported the largest case of ovarian leiomyoma, in an Iranian woman who died from postoperative complications.
Ovarian leiomyomas account for 0.5-1% of benign ovarian neoplasms, the doctors said. Other recent studies counted fewer than 100 published cases.
Their patient, aged 64, presented with a three-month history of lower-limb weakness, paresis and urinary incontinence, which had worsened in the past fortnight.
She was nulliparous, taking aspirin and clopidogrel, and had experienced a stroke two months earlier, they wrote in Clinical Case Reports.
