Medical Must-See: The pit and the pickle gas
These two factory cleaners entered cardiac arrest after descending into a tank of years-old waste in a Vietnamese pickle factory.
A 48-year-old woman, the first to enter the tank, became unconscious and comatose after approximately one minute, her doctors wrote in Clinical Case Reports.
The same happened when her male co-worker, 34, entered the tank to rescue her.
After they were brought out, fellow workers performed CPR with effective return of spontaneous circulation before the two were decontaminated and transported to hospital.
