Medical Must-See: Trigger warning over student’s tired-eye hack
A Scottish student was left with bilateral retinal tears and retinal dialysis after using a massage gun directly on his eyes to relieve tiredness, according to a landmark case in the BMJ.
The otherwise-healthy 20-something presented to the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion, in Edinburgh, complaining of floaters and occasional photopsia in his right eye for six days, his doctors reported.
He wore glasses for low myopia but had no family history of ocular problems.
He denied any head injury or trauma.
