Medical Must-See: Accidentally shot in the face, he went to hospital… 10 years later

Nonchalance, and not wanting to tell his parents, meant a man spent 10 years with an air gun pellet lodged quietly in his jaw.
But by the time the 22-year-old presented to hospital a decade later, he was oblivious to its presence, reporting only the sensation of a foreign body in his upper right anterior tooth region.
The patient’s medical and dental histories were unremarkable; however, after much deliberation, he was finally able to recall the offending incident from his childhood.
At the age of 12, he and his cousin had been “playing unsupervised with an air gun”. The cousin had accidentally shot it towards his face, causing a minor injury with slight bleeding.
