The recreational use of laughing gas is known to have some seriously weighty side effects, including irreversible neurological damage.

Often discharged from large canisters or smaller bulbs, known as ‘nangs’, into balloons for inhalation, the popularity of nitrous oxide has been rising for some time.

And associated injuries are close behind, with one UK teen sustaining frostbite to her inner thighs from close contact with a canister of N2O.

The female patient was referred to a burns unit after presenting to ED with the cold burn injury.
