Medical Must-See: CT shows nothing is quite where it’s supposed to be

His heart may have been in the right place, but the ventricles were transposed
CT scan

Sounding like something straight out of Harry Potter, and just as fantastical, this CT scan reveals a rare case of situs inversus with levocardia.

The patient, in his 50s, was blissfully unaware of his inverted organs when he presented with a gradually progressive dry cough and breathlessness of 2-3 years, as well as recent abdominal distension.

His dyspnoea had worsened over the past month.

On examination, doctors noted clubbing and swollen feet, along with a bulging precordium and congestive hepatomegaly. A pansystolic murmur could be heard on auscultation, and oxygen saturation was 94% on room air.
