Medical Must-See: World’s first hologram patients are training the next generation

No longer the stuff of sci-fi, medical students in the UK are the first to get their hands on holographic patients.
The training technology, known as HoloScenarios, allows users to learn and practise in a mixed-reality world.
They are able to see their real-life physical environments, as well as each other, while also interacting with hyper-realistic, medically accurate virtual patients and equipment — like a sort of high-stakes Sims.
“Throughout medical school, we would have situations where actors would come in and act as patients,” says Dr Aniket Bharadwaj, a junior doctor and one of the first to try out the technology.
