After inserting an endoscope into the woman’s right nostril, the culprit of the congestion is revealed, a leech, lurking in the nasal cavity like an alien antagonist from a low-budget ’80s horror movie.

The doctor quickly arms themselves with a pair of tweezers, clamping onto the convulsing parasite and easing it out of the patient’s nose.

The leech, which measures an impressive 10cm, can then be seen writhing around in the grips on the surgical instrument.
