Born under a wand’rin’ spleen

This woman’s spleen decided to up sticks and go for an amble around her abdomen after a rare congenital abnormality left her with lax ligaments.
The 30-year-old presented to hospital with a one-month history of fatigue, breathlessness on exertion and menorrhagia.
She had experienced a similar episode of fatigue and dyspnoea two years earlier, which had been diagnosed as iron-deficiency anaemia caused by heavy periods and treated with oral iron.
Physical examination was unremarkable other than a non-tender, firm, fixed and well-circumscribed mass in her lower abdomen.
