3500 GPs must change registration to avoid losing access to Medicare

Patient access to rebates is at stake for those doctors with college fellowship who still have general registration

Some 3500 GPs will have to pay $203 to update their registration with AHPRA in the next four weeks to prevent their patients losing access to Medicare rebates.

From 16 June, Federal Government will determine whether the patients of GPs are eligible for specialist MBS rebates based on their GP’s registration status recorded by AHPRA rather than relying on information provided by the RACGP or ACRRM.
