4 health policy changes from 1 July

Four important Federal Government health policy changes coming into force from 1 July:   

1. Medicare – Rise of the MBS indexation to 1.5% that applies to most general medical services items, all diagnostic imaging services – except nuclear medicine imaging and MRI and two pathology items (74990 and 74991). Get the new updated fees list in our latest MBS Quick Guide.

3. National Health Agreement – $103.2 billion will be given over five years to the states and territories for public hospital services after the expiry of the current agreement on June 30, 2020. $50 million will also be provided in 2020 -2021 for health innovation fund to support trials in innovative and better use of health data.
